Name your price.

What’s your salvation worth? Wait, how about your soul? At what price would you choose to stop following Christ and start following someone or something else? (Because trust me, we are all following someone or something; and by following I mean worshipping.)

Don’t believe me? Take a look around.

What does your neighbor worship? I’m being serious, stop and think about it.

Now, hopefully most of us do not have neighbors with idols in their backyards where they make sacrifices on an altar; but how often are they outside washing and polishing that ‘67 Super Snake in the driveway? (Speaking of which, that has to be my ultimate car. Ahem, sorry for drooling on your screen…)

Or maybe they have the “perfect” yard? (You know, the one that makes you not want to do anything to yours; just so you’ll have an excuse.)

Perhaps they have a sixty foot Raiders’ flag flying proudly (ok, let’s be serious because you and I know there are no Raiders fans left out there who are brave enough to show it). All it will take is about a ten minute conversation with them to find out what they are worshipping (or an quick look at their browser history).

You want to get real serious? I’ll tell you what I worship. Success. Yeah, I just admitted it and I know what you’re thinking, “But wait, you’re a Christian?”

Yes, I am.

I believe Jehovah, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is the one true God–”I am that I am”. Furthermore I believe that Jesus, the son of Joseph and Mary of Nazareth, was and is the Messiah (Christ). He was born in Bethlehem and gave His life as a sacrifice for all mankind’s sins; yet was raised by His father (whom I now call Abba Father) from the grave and I am awaiting His return.

However, I am also human; and so are you. I am far from perfect and fail every day. I ask for God’s forgiveness every day. My mind and body are at odds with my spirit and soul. We wage war daily concerning whom we will serve, and what we will worship.

Jehovah or Success

Am I saying you cannot have both? No. But in a way you cannot. You see, as a Christian all success is His–but I digress.

Ok, what was this post about again? Oh yeah, what would it take to get you to make this statement?

It only took a hundred thousand dollars (plus five in interest) for him…

Last year I upgraded from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0. I soon noticed that the new program began unexpected child processing that took up a lot of space and resources.

In addition, Wife 1.0 installed itself into all other programs and now monitors all other system activity: Applications such as Poker Night 10.3, Football 5.0, Hunting/Fishing 7.5, and Racing 3.6.

I can’t seem to keep Wife 1.0 in the background while attempting to run my favorite applications. I’m thinking about going back to Girlfriend 7.0, but the uninstall doesn’t work on Wife 1.0. Please help!”

This is a very common problem. Many people upgrade from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0, thinking that it is just a Utilities and Entertainment program. Wife 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM and is designed by its Creator to run EVERYTHING!

It is also impossible to delete Wife 1.0 and to return to Girlfriend 7.0. It is impossible to uninstall, or purge the program files from the system once installed. You cannot go back to Girlfriend 7.0 because Wife 1.0 is designed not to allow this. Look in your Wife 1.0 manual under Warnings-Alimony-Child Support.

I recommend that you keep Wife 1.0 installed and work on improving the configuration. I suggest installing the background application YesDear 99.0 to alleviate software augmentation.

The best course of action is to enter the command C:\APOLOGIZE because ultimately you will have to do this before the system will return to normal anyway. Wife 1.0 is a great program, but it tends to be very high maintenance. Wife 1.0 comes with several support programs, such as CleanAndSweep 3.0, CookIt 1.5 and DoBills 4.2. However, be very careful how you use these programs. Improper use will cause the system to launch the program NagNag 9.5.

Once this happens, the only way to improve the performance of Wife 1.0 is to purchase additional software. I recommend Flowers 2.1 and Diamonds 5.0, but beware because sometimes these applications can be expensive.

WARNING!!! DO NOT, under any circumstances, install SecretaryWithShortSkirt 3.3. This application is not supported by Wife 1.0 and will cause irreversible damage to the operating system.

WARNING!!! Attempting to install NewGirlFriend 8.8 along with Wife 1.0 will crash the system.”

I wish I could say that I came up with this witty little piece, but alas! (I would give credit where credit is due, but it was an email with “Author Unknown” at the bottom; so, if you wrote it…thank you?) Anyway, this obviously humorous way to look at marriage fell into my lap the other day, and as I was reading it I realized that while funny, parts of it rang true.

Too many men (and women) go into marriage with the idea that they can just “uninstall and reboot” if things start happening that they do not like. Instead, maybe we should think of marriage as more like a motherboard and a CPU—neither can really function without the other. (Ok, that is probably not the most romantic thing you could say to your wife, so…don’t.)

However, do take this advice: run Flowers 2.1 every time you get a chance, and don’t forget to compliment (and complement) Wife 1.0 every day!
